Split Air to Water

The split heat pump, or refrigerant split, has its heat exchanger inside the building. There is an outdoor unit that houses most of the refrigerant circuit, with refrigerant pipes going inside to heat the system water at the indoor unit.

Some systems allow distances of 50 meters from the building allowing much greater installation flexibility.

Water doesn’t go outside so no risk of freezing.

Pros

  • Small outdoor unit

  • Installation flexibility

  • No antifreeze requirement

  • Better flow rates due to shorter primary piperun

Cons

  • Requires F-Gas installer

  • Less market availability

  • Requires indoor unit
